This program is intended for English speaking audiences and that is typically consciously reflected in its temperate and diplomatic approach to issues. This places the trade dispute in an unfavorable historical light in which US-Chinese relations are prospectively to be viewed. The departure from the friendlier relationship between China and the US that began in 1972, is now being officially acknowledged on the Chinese side, and they are accepting the challenge to their sovereignty in historical terms which make accepting overbearing US terms unlikely.
